Kaizer Chiefs are set to release several players in the next few weeks. Now, the likely exits sit at nine with another big-name likely heading out of Naturena.
Mduduzi Mdantsane is the latest player to be added to the full list of likely Chiefs exits.
In fact, his future will be determined by the next Amakhosi coach. Meaning, he joins the list of players whose future will be determined by the next coach.
CHIEFS LIKELY EXITS – FULLY UPDATED LIST
- Itumeleng Khune
- Njabulo Ngcobo
- George Matlou
- Edson Castillo
- Mduduzi Mdantsane
- Tebogo Potsane
- Samkelo Zwane
- Jasond Gonzales
- Keagan Dolly
KHUNE STILL WANTS TO PLAY AMIDST INTEREST FROM RIVALS
As we all know very well Khune is one of EIGHT players whose contracts are about to expire. However, Khune still wants to play and he has attracted interest from PSL rivals.
Meaning, he is likely to leave unless Amakhosi management change their minds. Currently, they do not want to extend his playing contract. Instead, they want to offer Khune a different role – as an ambassador or goalkeeper coach.
LACK OF GAMETIME DRIVING CHIEFS PLAYERS OUT OF NATURENA
Meanwhile, former Bafana Bafana defender Ngcobo has received an offer from PSL rivals, according to SABCSport. Given his lack of gametime and his current position in the Amakhosi pecking order, he may very well leave.
Meanwhile, midfielders Matlou, Castillo, Potsane and Zwane find themselves in the same boat. They are all struggling for regular game time. Moreover, this is unlikely to change given the fact that Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa are ahead in the current pecking order. More recently, Nkosnigiphile Ngcobo and Pule Modi have been given more gametime as well.
Perhaps, the most surprising name on the list is Castillo. The Venezuelan midfielder was a regular in the midfield at the start of the season but this has changed in recent months. Moreover, he needs to prioritize his national side. Therefore, he has told Amakhosi management that he needs to play or he may have to leave.
“Tebogo Potsane has been unfortunate with an injury at Chiefs, otherwise he would have been far by now. You can see in the way he started, he was playing regularly under the previous coach (Molefi Ntseki) and had bagged two assists in the opening five games in which he featured in the league. He is a hardworking player who gives his all whenever on the Qeld and is more matured than he was when he started in the professional ranks. It’s just that he was unfortunate with an injury, that ruled him out for the rest of the season. It was a serious injury, and it has raised concerns about his future with the club,” the report read on SoccerLaduma.
Meanwhile, Zwane could be loaned out. However, the club is currently not open to selling or releasing him.
“I think it would be premature to discuss anything of this nature, I would say that one would only look at [potential loan move] at the end of this season,” his agent,” Mike Makaab stated on iDiskiTimes.
END OF THE ROAD FOR BIG NAME ATTACKERS?
Dolly is currently the highest-paid player in the league. Therefore, he is Chiefs’ top-earner as well. Unfortunately, injuries, inconsistent form and his age could result in both of these facts changing. Dolly’s contract is coming to an end.
Ultimately, he will need to accept a huge pay-cut or he may have to leave Naturena, as reported on The South African. Additionally, Amakhosi management have decided to release Gonzales.
Finally, Mdantsane is the newest player linked with a possible exit. With early indications implying that he could be loaned out.
“A of now things are not looking good for him. All signs are that he [Mdantsane] could be loaned out next season,” the insider reported on SNL.
