Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The SAPS Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola and her management team welcomes the 15 years prison sentence handed down by the Galeshewe Regional Court to 52-year-old Thabo Justice Tshikane following the assault of a 36-year-old female victim in Snake Park, Galeshewe on Saturday, 15 April 2022. The Court heard that the accused attacked his ex-girlfriend in her own home and stabbed her multiple times. She was ultimately saved by the intervention of community members who broke her door down to gain entrance and rescued her. The accused was found guilty by the Court on Wednesday, 10 April 2024 and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for the offence and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. Lieutenant General Otola praised the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Khalala Seotsa for the thorough investigative work. The police will remain relentless in ensuring that justice is served for victims of GBVF. The police are encouraging the public to rate the police efforts in fighting crime by participating in the “RATE OUR SERVICE” online survey to assist the police in improving services. Ends
