The South African Social Security Agency is mandated by law to provide assistance for any and all poor families with minors through July 2024 SASSA childcare grants. And the next payment of childcare grants will be later this week, on Thursday 4 July 2024.
Therefore, if you are a poor family or single parent who needs assistance to support a child, here’s everything there is to know about July 2024 SASSA childcare grants. Plus, how to apply for government aid no matter your situation. The new Minister of Social Development, Sisisi Tholale, is also President of the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL), so experts predict she will be sympathetic to the plight of young mothers and children.
JULY 2024 SASSA CHILDCARE GRANTS
Of the three July 2024 SASSA childcare grants that will be disbursed this week, the most prevalent is Child Support. This takes the form of R530 per month and is paid to approximately 13-million recipients. This amount was increased in April 2024 by the agency. Then there is Child Care Dependency, which currently pays R2 180 per month. This is for disabled children who need constant care and at-home attention. And, finally, there is Foster Child support from SASSA. This applies if you are a court-mandated foster parent to a minor and require additional financial support of R1 180 per month.
To apply for SASSA Child Support in July 2024, your banking records must reflect that your annual income is less than R105 600, or R8 800 per month (if married). And R52 800, or R4 400 per month (if single). All potential beneficiaries should note they cannot have more than one grant at the same time. This is simply a rule from the agency.
