Kaizer Chiefs had a second training session with three new players at Naturena. One jersey number has been spotted.

KAIZER CHIEFS COACH KHALIL BEN YOUSSEF PLEASED WITH GEORGE MATLOU
Several supporters of Kaizer Chiefs have been praying for this player because he is so easy on the ball: kasi style.
Following eight months out injured, the 26-year-old Matlou started his second game of the season against Free Agents FC in the Nedbank Cup before winning the Man of the Match award. Speaking at the press conference after the game, coach Youssef said Matlou is a tactically smart footballer who might be a key player going forward.
“For George Matlou we have to thank our fitness coach Majdi. I think from the first day when he was here we took the history of George, with his injuries and everything, and he did a lot of work with him,” Ben Youssef said. “Now I can say Matlou is 100% for the team. We can see he started the last game and managed 60 minutes [in Chiefs’ 1-0 Premiership win against Sekhukhune United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on January 19]. We started step by step — in the first game he played 10 minutes [in the 1-0 defeat against Golden Arrows in Durban on January 12], then 60, now 90.
“So we are so proud of him. Even in the game [against Agents] he was so good; tactically he’s a smart player and I hope he will help us in the season.”
BONGANI SAM WAS SET TO LEAVE KAIZER CHIEFS
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has to keep on working with Bongani Sam. The 27-year-old former Orlando Pirates left-back suffered a horrific ankle injury during pre-season in Turkey. After just one appearance against Marumo Gallants in the friendly CUFA Cup last October, the Gqeberha-born defender was set to join Magesi FC on loan until the end of the season. Yesterday’s report said: “With Sam clearly out of favour under Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi, the club has decided to loan him out,” FARPost reported. “Da Gama, currently seeking a left-back for his struggling Magesi side, has identified Sam as a potential solution.”
DEAL CALLED OFF
According to SABC Sport, the deal between Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi failed to materialise at the last hour before deadline on Wednesday. “Word reaching the public broadcaster’s desk is that Dikwena Tsa Meetse pulled the plug on the move at the last minute on Tuesday evening,” reported Mazola Molefe. “It is understood that Magesi were keen on landing the former Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows full-back for the next few months, with the player even having completed a medical in Johannesburg prior to his trip to Limpopo.”
“The reigning Carling Knockout champions instead notified Amakhosi that they no longer have room for Sam, after they were unable to offload a few players of their own before the transfer deadline, while having to also pay a portion of his salary,” concluded Molefe.
In the meanwhile, coach Nabi will remain with four left-back options in Bradley Cross, Thatayaone Dithlokwe, Happy Mashiane and of course Sam.
