South African comedian Jason Goliath opened up about filming new dating show titled Dating #NoFilter coming to E! this October.
Comedian Jason Goliath is the leading commentator on the local adaptation of Dating #NoFilter. The show is set to premiere exclusively on E! Africa (DStv channel number 124) on 13 October at 19:00. In an exclusive interview with The South African, Jason revealed that viewers can expect to see their favourite celebrities have no filter while discussing dating.
“Expect your favourite celebrities to have absolutely no filter while discussing one of the absolute favourite subjects – dating, amplify dating by saying a first date. Amplify a first date by saying a blind first date. You give South Africans an instruction to have no filter on a blind first date, you are going to get,” said Jason exclusively to The South African.
Jason went on to say that this Dating #NoFilter will be different from other shows because of the diversity in backgrounds, ages and ethnicities.
“So I think what sets this show apart from other dating shows. Generally, the shows I’ve watched has a very specific energy to very episode. This show is done incredibly well. I’m not the host in the sense that the show is formulated around me, I’m just the lead commentator and I’m surrounded by people of different backgrounds, people of different ages, people of different ethnicities that have different ideas, even of what dating should be,” he continued.
JASON GOLIATH: ‘THE MOST SOUTH AFRICAN PERSPECTIVE’
The comedian went on to say that viewers can expect the most South African perspective and a new take on dating in the new generation.
“That’s what makes it so beautifully South African – you are not getting anybody forced narrative or forced opinion, or forced perspective, you are getting the most South African perspective. You are going to have an episode where I for example, am paired up with a 20 year old TikToker, and 43 year old Jason, who is a little bit set in his ways, has a very different perspective of how somebody should be conducting themselves on a first date, compared to someone who understands what slides in the DMs means, for example,” he added.
Jason went on to say that he had tons of fun on set and forgot that the cameras were on.
“What I love the most is a I seem to be making a habit of this in entertainment productions recently. I think I had too much fun, I think laughed a bit too loud and I think I committed the old fashion crime of even I forgot that the cameras were there at some point and may or may not have said things that would end up on X. We will have to wait for Monday the 14th to see,” he said.
When asked who he was most excited to work with, Jason revealed that it was between Carpo More and Tumi the Narrator.
“I think I’ve never met Carpo, I’ve followed him for years, I love him. I’m always jealous that Carpo is always posting things with other comedians but he has never done anything with me, just because he is not a comedian, but he moves like a comedian, and I don’t know if that makes any sense, but he’s got a comedians energy,” he said.
“So in the build up meeting, I’ve met Cassper many times but I’ve never met Carpo, and he did not disappoint, the guy has such a delightful energy, so easy to work with. In retrospect though, Tumi The Narrator blew my mind more than anybody because of anybody should be a comedian, Tumi The Narrator should be South Africa’s next big thing,” he continued.
A MISSING INCISOR!?
Jason added that one of his favourite moments of shooting involved somebody with a missing incisor tooth.
“I will tell you my favourite moment involves somebody missing their incisor. If you don’t know what’s a incisor, it is your debit orders tooth… one of your front teeth. When you lose one of your front teeth, you know you look like you miss debit orders,” he said.
“This person was not only confident to not have the tooth replaced but they were confident enough to go on the first blind date on camera knowing full well comedians will have them. We had them. I promise you, this show is going to hurt your brain,” he continued.
