POTCHEFSTROOM – A Crime Intelligence driven tactical operation conducted in Ikageng Township by Buffelshoek police on Thursday, 07 November 2024, culminated in the arrest of three suspects who were found in possession of goods stolen during a housebreaking, robbery and murder allegedly committed last month in Buffelshoek outside Potchefstroom. In effecting the arrests, the team confiscated three firearms; two that were robbed during the break-ins and robbery as well as the one presumably used during the commission of the crimes. It is alleged that unknown suspects committed a house robbery in Buffelshoek on Friday, 25 October 2024. In the process, the victim was killed and the suspects took his vehicle, two firearms, tools and household goods. Reports suggest that the suspects also committed a housebreaking in the same area. In tracking the suspects, the team worked hard to ensure that they recover stolen and robbed items that included a spare wheel, clothes, camping chairs, blankets, two beds, carpets, 15 ammunition, shotgun and one rifle. The suspects, aged between 33 and 42, are due to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 11 November 2024, on two counts of housebreaking, murder, theft of motor vehicle, two counts of possession of suspected stolen goods and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended the team for their dedication by working tirelessly to ascertain that the suspects are brought to book.
