FREE STATE – An intelligently driven operation was conducted on Friday, 7 February 2025 by Phuthaditjhaba Crime Intelligence and opertionalised by Phuthaditjhaba Mounted Unit in which two suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and dealing in drugs. Apparently, Phuthaditjhaba Mounted Unit was on duty when they received information with regard to certain house at De Bult, Phuthaditjaba where the inhabitants of that house could be in possession of illegal firearm. The information was followed up and upon the police’s arrival at the identified house, two people were found. They searched the house and found a firearm hidden inside the wardrobe, a 9mm pistol with a magazine without bullets. On further search, police found 50 plastic sachets containing rock, 76 of CAT, and eight (8) of Mandrax drugs with an estimated street value of R9000.00.
Both suspects, aged 27 and 38, were arrested and charged. They are expected to appear before the Phuthaditjaba Magistrate Court on Monday, 10 February 2025, facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and dealing in drugs.
