Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Police members attached to the City of Cape Town District conducted an integrated intelligence driven operation in Covid informal settlement in Kraaifontein on Monday, 20 January 2025, which led to the successful recovery of stolen motor vehicles including parts of stolen motor vehicles which resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old man. The members gathered information about a possible storage facility for stolen and hijacked motor vehicles. The information at their disposal was operationalised which led the integrated team to a location in Covid informal settlement where they secured the area and started with inspecting the vehicles found on the premises. They confiscated a Toyota Hilux LDV which was reported stolen in Muizenberg as well as a Nissan double cab reported stolen in Kleinvlei. The persistence of the police members led them to another shack, used as a storage facility, where they found vehicle parts of a Toyota Yaris and a VW Polo. The mentioned vehicles were confiscated including a number of vehicle registration documentation found inside the dwelling. The members subsequently arrested a 33-year-old man for the possession of presumed stolen property. Once charged the suspect will make a court appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charge. Ends
