Media Statement CAPE TOWN – During another operation held on Saturday, 13 July 2024 at about 20:00, members attached to the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Team, accompanied by members from POCC Operations, Kleinvlei SAPS, Operation Lockdown and Law Enforcement were deployed in Kleinvlei police precinct due to the escalation in murders and attempted murders as well as a rise in vehicle hijacking in Forest Village over weekends. At about 21:50 members executed search and seizure warrants in the Kleinvlei police precinct. They searched numerous residential addresses and in the process arrested several suspects for the possession of imitation firearm and driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drugs and dealing in drugs. The seized items being 60 x sachets TIK, 900gr of uncut TIK, one sachet of Cocaine, four mandrax tablets, eight packages of compressed cannabis, 30 see-through bags containing compressed cannabis weighing a combined weight of 900kg, one 9mm firearm with nine 9mm blank rounds and an amount of R4260-00 in cash, was handed in at Kleinvlei SAPS. Total street value of the seized TIK and cocaine is estimated at R5000, 00. During the early morning of Sunday, 14 July 2024, members intensified patrols in Forest Village and after spotting a white VW Polo, members stopped and searched the vehicle and found a .38 Special revolver with five rounds at the corner of Hekla Crescent and Barmhorn Street, Forest Village. The occupants of the vehicle four males and one female were apprehended. The suspects were detained, and the exhibits booked at Kleinvlei SAPS. The suspects between the ages of 16 and 26 were arrested and will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s court once charged. Ends
