Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Committed police officers who play a pivotal role in the execution of integrated intelligence driven operations successfully arrested three suspects on firearm related charges. Steenberg police conducted stop and search operations on Tuesday 18 March 2025 when at about 13:35 they approached a flat in Dover Court, Lavender Hill and found a man who tried to evade them at all cost. The members restrained the man, searched him and found in his possession a firearm and a consignment of ammunition. The man was unable to provide a valid licence to be in possession of the mentioned firearm. They detained the 40-year-old man for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. Meanwhile police members attached to the Overberg District Task Team, in conjunction with Law Enforcement, conducted an intelligence driven operation in Hermanus. The members searched the occupants of an identified address and detained two suspects for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition which were found in their possession. Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Wynberg and Hermanus Magistrates’ Courts on the mentioned charges. Ends
