KZN House of Traditional Leaders Chairperson Inkosi Sifiso Shinga Recuperates Following Fatal Crash
Chief Sifiso Shinga, the Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders in KwaZulu-Natal, is on the road to recovery following a serious car accident.
The crash occurred on 24 June near the old Durban airport.
The driver of the vehicle died instantly at the scene, while Inkosi Shinga was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
This publication reached out to Inkosi Shinga following his noticeable absence from recent official events, where he usually welcomes guests and delivers addresses on behalf of traditional leaders.
“It was around 9:00 PM as we were returning from a government event,” Shinga recalled.
“Another vehicle on the road blinded my driver with high-beam headlights. In an attempt to avoid it, our vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and overturned.”
“Tragically, my driver lost his life in that accident. My doctor has instructed me to rest, and I am expected to return to work next month, in October. I am currently recovering at home, and my health is steadily improving,” he said.In the interim, his official duties are being handled by his deputy, Inkosi Thwalizwe Gumede of the Makhasa Traditional Council in Umkhanyakude.
