Impeached but Defiant: Gachagua Insists He’s Still Kenya’s Deputy President

Let’s chat about what’s been going on with Kenya’s Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.

So, here’s the scoop: Gachagua was impeached with 56 senators finding him guilty of five out of 11 charges. And guess who was behind these charges? None other than Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse. But here’s the kicker – Gachagua isn’t backing down. He’s standing firm, insisting he’s still the Deputy President even after the president nominated a new deputy president who has already been approved by parliament. It’s like watching a political soap opera unfold before our eyes!

Gachagua’s Hospitalization and Health Issues

Now, let’s talk about something a bit more serious. Our guy Gachagua ended up in the hospital with some pretty nasty chest pain. Poor fella! He even said that if he hadn’t gotten medical help when he did, things could have turned out much worse.

But wait, there’s more! Gachagua thinks the government might have something to do with his health troubles. He’s even mentioned assassination attempts! I know, it sounds like something out of a spy movie.

Security Withdrawal and Government Car Seizure

As if all that wasn’t enough, Gachagua had his security personnel taken away and his government cars seized. Can you imagine? One day you’re cruising around in fancy cars with a security detail, and the next, you’re just like the rest of the regular folks!

This whole situation is making life pretty tough for Gachagua. I mean, how’s he supposed to get around and do his job now? It’s like they’ve clipped his wings!

Legal Defense and Conservatory Orders

But Gachagua’s not going down without a fight! He’s got some fancy legal papers from the Kirinyaga and Milimani Law Courts that he says allow him to keep his job as Deputy President.

And get this – he’s ready to defend himself against all 11 charges. He thinks they’re just playing politics, trying to get rid of him. It’s like a real-life game of political chess!

Political Fallout and Allegations Against President Ruto

Now, here’s where things get really juicy. Gachagua is saying that President William Ruto just used him to win the election and that to him really hurts. He thinks this whole impeachment thing is just a sneaky plan to kick him out of power.

It’s like one of those friendships that goes sour – you know, where you think someone’s got your back, but then they turn around and stab you in it instead. Indeed politics can be a tough game!

Assassination Attempts and Claims of Government Harm

Okay, now we’re getting into some scary stuff. Gachagua says he’s survived two assassination attempts! And he thinks government officials were behind it. I don’t know about you, but that gives me the chills!

It’s like he’s living in a thriller movie. Can you imagine always looking over your shoulder, wondering if someone’s out to get you? That’s no way to live!

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s Defense

But it’s not all doom and gloom for Gachagua. He’s got at least one friend in his corner – Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale. Khalwale says the Senate could have saved Gachagua if he’d just shown up to testify.

It’s a bit like when your friend tells you, “I could’ve helped you if you’d just asked!” Hindsight is 20/20, right? I wonder if Gachagua’s kicking himself for not taking that chance to tell his side of the story.

Future Prospects for Rigathi Gachagua

So, where does all this leave our friend Gachagua? Well, he’s still insisting he’s the Deputy President, impeachment or not. Talk about determination!

He’s got some big legal and political battles ahead of him, that’s for sure. And his wife is pretty upset about the whole thing. I mean, wouldn’t you be if your spouse was going through all this?

To top it all off, Gachagua wasn’t even invited to the Mashujaa Day celebrations held on 20/10/24. Talk about being left out in the cold!

What do you think about all this? Is Gachagua fighting a losing battle, or does he still have a chance to turn things around? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – Kenyan politics is never boring!
