I am Not Here for Revenge” – National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola Returns with Message of Unity
South African Police Service (SAPS) National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, has officially returned to his post with a clear message of unity, reconciliation, and a renewed focus on duty.
Speaking to the media and SAPS members, Masemola expressed deep gratitude to the public, colleagues, and leadership who stood by him and offered unwavering support during what he described as a highly challenging and difficult period.
Addressing speculation surrounding his return, Masemola firmly dispelled any notions of internal friction or retaliation. He emphasized that his primary objective is to lead the police service effectively, not to settle personal scores.
“I have returned to work with everyone,” Masemola stated. “I am not here to seek revenge. Our focus must remain entirely on fighting crime and keeping South Africans safe.”
Masemola also took the opportunity to formally thank the official who stepped up to lead the police service in an acting capacity during his absence.
He praised their leadership, dedication, and the stability they maintained within the department during a transitional phase.
With his return, Masemola aims to foster a cohesive environment within the SAPS command structure to tackle the country’s pressing security challenges collaboratively.
