Media Statement FREE STATE – The Phuthaditjhaba police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Disaster Park-Bluegumbosch, Qwaqwa, for alleged murder his 29-year-old wife, who was six months pregnant. On January 21, 2025, around 15:50, the police received a murder complaint from the complainant, who was also the suspect and heavily intoxicated at the time. Upon arrival at Disaster Park, officers discovered the woman’s body in their bedroom, which showed signs of a bruised neck and a bleeding nose. Emergency Medical Service personnel declared the woman deceased and determined that she appeared to be approximately six months pregnant. The motive for the murder is still unclear. A murder investigation is currently underway. The suspect was taken in for questioning and subsequently arrested on Wednesday, 22 January 2025. He is appearing before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrates’ Court today, 23 January 2025 facing a charge of murder.
