A SHOCKING discovery in the widely speculated Willem Kruger case, here is what we now know about the case.
HERE IS WHAT WE NOW KNOW ABOUT THE WILLEM KRUGER CASE
Willem went missing after he was last seen attending a bachelor’s party in November last year.

His family and friends still believed that something was not right and speculated that something more sinister had happened.
HIS FAMILY AND FRIEND STILL BELIEVED THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT

They even started a Facebook page where they vowed to get Justice for Willem.
Now, more than a year later, police have revealed that they detected foul play while investigating the case.
HERE IS WHAT WE NOW KNOW ABOUT THE CASE:

- A large-scale search was launched around the Vaal River near the lodge after footage from the lodge’s security cameras confirmed that Willem had not left the premises.
- A week later, his body was found submerged in his bakkie in the Vaal River.
- Police discovered Willem’s mobile phone and the vehicle’s tracker were off.
- Investigations also discovered that Willem did not drive himself into the river.
- The vehicle’s gear was found in park mode with its handbrake pulled up. The car keys were not found in the ignition.
- Police are NOW convinced that Willem and his bakkie were not inside the Vaal River during the week when a search was conducted.
- The case was changed from inquest into murder following the alluded developments.”
POLICE HAVE CHANGED THE INQUEST TO A MURDER CASE
Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the investigators were hard at work and are now more convinced that there was foul play.

“No further details of the investigation will be shared at this stage. The SAPS investigators are working together with the National Prosecution Authority (NPA).
Mohlala added that the police, in collaboration with the NPA, are looking at the possibility of probing charges of defeating the ends of Justice on this case as well as Perjury charges against certain persons of interest whose identities cannot be revealed at this stage.
“It must be noted that police received a lot of calls from concerned members of the public who were keen to know the status of the investigation. It is from this backdrop that the Police deemed it fit to share on the progress of the investigation of the case which has drawn a huge interest from the public.”
