Media Statement ORANJEVILLE – Two bodies were unwrapped after they were found in the river and investigators noticed tattoos that may assist in identifying the two victims. On 11 October 2024 at about 14:15 Oranjeville police received information from a passer-by on the discovery of a body in the river at a bridge. The South African Police Service Diving Unit was summoned to the scene and discovered one more body a few meters away from the first one. Cases of murder were opened for further investigation at the Oranjeville police station. The bodies are in a bad state of decomposition and both victims are without any form of identity. They are estimated to be between 40 and 55 years old. A preliminary investigation discovered that the victims were handcuffed on their hands and their feet fastened with cable ties. Investigators observed the following: First victim: The victim has no teeth but has many tattoos, with only a few visible ones, such as: 1. “Billie 08/06/2016” on his back 2. A cross with fire on the right leg culf 3. “Kauthew” words or name written on the left hand. Second victim: Victim has teeth and the following tattoos were found on him: 1. Words “International Croock” tattooed on his back, 2. Flames drawn on his left leg.
