KWAZULU-NATAL – On Thursday 30 January 2025, the Hawks members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation in conjunction with Kwazulu-Natal Counter Narcotics and Crime Intelligence, successfully apprehended the alleged drug dealer Xolani Sihle Ndlovu (39) at Mpophomeni area in Howick. The joint operation was launched following intelligence information that Ndlovu was involved in the sale of drugs in Mpophomeni. In response, the Hawks conducted a series of undercover drug purchases from Ndlovu between 7 June 2024 and 21 August 2024.The substances purchased during these operations were sent to a laboratory for testing and were confirmed to be illegal narcotics, including various types of drugs with street value of R45 640-00. On Thursday, 30 January 2025, the police executed a warrant for Ndlovu’s arrest, charging him with four counts of dealing in drugs. The accused appeared briefly before the Howick Magistrate’s court on 31 January 2025. The case postponed to 3 February 2025, for a bail application. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona praised the joint efforts of the various law enforcement agencies involved in the arrest and stressed the importance of intelligence –driven operations in combating illegal drug trafficking.
