Media Statement KWAZULU-NATAL – On Thursday, 27 March 2025, the Hawks members from Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation successfully executed a search warrant at the Clairwood Park, container depot in Durban, leading to the confiscation of counterfeit goods valued at an estimated R1 156 300.00. The investigation began when the Border Police intercepted and inspected a container in November 2024, following which samples were withdrawn for further analysis. It was confirmed by the brand attorneys that 891 Sony Dual Shock Controllers were counterfeit. No arrest has been made at this stage, but the investigation continues. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona extolled the members for the good work. ”The discovery and confiscation of these counterfeit items represent a significant step forward in the fight against intellectual property infringement and the proliferation of counterfeit goods in Kwazulu-Natal,” he added.
