According to a reliable source, the ANC Norman Mashabane Region has taken a decisive decision to remove its former Regional Deputy Chairperson Gerrison Molapisane from the mayoral position.
Molapisane was sworn in as the mayor of Greater Tzaneen Municipality on 22 November 2021, succeeding Maripe Mangena, who has recently joined Action_ SA Limpopo as a Regional Chairperson in Mopani.
It is alleged that the ANC Regional office has asked the mayor to submit his resignation letter before the end of this week ( 10 May 2026)
The scramble of the mayoral chain comes after Molapisane camp was defeated at the 9th regional conference on 11 May 2025.
ANC Norman Mashabane Region has so far deployed Renny Mabuza as an Acting Mayor.
Mabuza is an ANCYL Chairperson in the Region and MMC for Sports and Culture.
GTM spokesperson Neville Ndlala, when contacted for a confirmation, he vigorously said
” The mayor has not resigned. It ends there.”
