Media Statement FREE STATE – A 36-year-old suspect, who is also a live-in partner to the deceased, will appear in Fauresmith Magistrate Court on Monday, 9 September 2024, on a charge of murder. On Saturday, 07 September 2024 at about 02:30, a community member who is also a neighbour of the couple, arrived at the police station and requested an ambulance. He reported that there was an adult male who had been stabbed by his partner at his house. Police went to the scene at Relebohile Extension 2 in Luckhoff. On arrival, they found the man sitting in a living room bleeding from a chest wound. He was declared dead on the scene. It was further reported by the neighbour that the suspect arrived at his house informing him that her partner wanted to kill her. It was further alleged that the victim also arrived, but without any word, reportedly to fetch her. That is when the suspect stabbed her partner with a knife that was already in her possession.
She was arrested on the scene. The knife that was allegedly used as a murder weapon was also confiscated to be used later as evidence during trial.
