Media Statement FREE STATE – The Bohlokong police have arrested the 50-year-old man from Phase Seven Bohlokong after he allegedly murdered the 11-year-old girl from his neighbourhood. It’s alleged that on 29 December 2024 at 10:20, the suspect summoned the girl to his home and requested her to buy him cigarettes. She went and came back but she didn’t know his intentions. It is suspected that he strangled and brutally killed her. The possibility of rape couldn’t be ruled out, but postmortem will be conducted in this regard. Her body was found dumped near the railway line with an open wound on her neck. A case of murder is being investigated. The suspect is expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate court on Thursday, 02 January 2025, facing charge of murder.
The Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, sends her condolences to the family for their breaking loss and will ensure that as police that justice prevail. The crimes against children won’t be tolerated, “said the Provincial Commissioner.
