With Euro 2024 trending all over the world, Cryptorush has compiled a list of Germany’s most Instagrammable stadiums.
This ranking was created by analyzing Instagram hashtags, TikTok posts, and tour search data for each stadium, and comparing these figures to the seating capacities.
The result is a list of the most popular German stadiums on social media, as global attention is currently focused on the country hosting the most major football event of the year.
Top of the pile
Allianz Arena, home to Bayern Munich, tops the list with 315K Instagram posts tagged with #AllianzArena. With a seating capacity of 75K, this translates to about 4 posts per fan when at full capacity. The stadium also has 22,2K TikTok posts tagged with the same hashtag. Additionally, with 72,8K searches for terms like “Allianz Arena tour” and “Allianz Arena tickets,” it becomes the most popular stadium among the top ten.
Olympiastadion, home to Hertha BSC in Berlin, comes second with 256K Instagram posts tagged with #Olympiastadion. With a seating capacity of 74,4K the stadium has about 3.4 posts per fan. The Olympiastadion also features prominently on TikTok with 9K posts under the same hashtag.
Signal Iduna Park, hosting Borussia Dortmund, ranks third with 166K Instagram posts with the #SignalIdunaPark hashtag. With the largest seating capacity in the Bundesliga, the home of the Black and Yellow Army has 81,3K seats, and it sees approximately 2 posts per fan on average. The stadium also has 10,5K TikTok posts and searches for “Signal Iduna Park tour” are at 3,7K, highlighting its popularity among football fans.
Germany’s most instagrammed stadiums include smaller grounds
Mercedes-Benz Arena, home to VfB Stuttgart, ranks fourth with 136K Instagram posts tagged with #MercedesBenzArena. Compared to its maximum capacity of 17K, that works out to just over 8 photos per fan. It also has a significant presence on TikTok with 12,3K posts. Tour attendance searches such as “Mercedes-Benz Arena tour” contribute to its total score, making it a highly active venue on social media.
Veltins-Arena, home to FC Schalke 04, ranks fifth with 80,9K Instagram posts. With a seating capacity of 62,2K and 6,9K TikTok posts made by fans, the stadium has secured its place in the top five.
Six to ten
Volksparkstadion in Hamburg comes sixth with 70,1K Instagram posts. Hosting Hamburger SV, it has a capacity of 57K and features 9K TikTok posts. The overall social media popularity among football fans gives the stadium its place in the list.
RheinEnergieStadion, home to 1. FC Köln is seventh with 52,9K Instagram posts tagged with #RheinEnergieStadion. The stadium welcomes 50K spectators every match and manages to draw approximately 1.1 posts per fan on social media platforms. The stadium also has 2,4K TikTok posts which further support its position in the list.
Frankfurt Arena, hosting Eintracht Frankfurt, ranks eighth with 52,4K Instagram posts tagged with #FrankfurtArena. With a seating capacity of 58K, this results in just under 1 post per fan and secures a position in the top 10.
Red Bull Arena, home to RB Leipzig, ranks ninth with 51,4K Instagram posts tagged with #RedBullArena. Being the smallest stadium in the top 10 with 25K seating capacity, the stadium gains 2 posts per spectator. The stadium also features 2,6K TikTok posts and has a high number of searches for terms like “Red Bull Arena tour,” reaching 62,8K, which is the second highest number after Allianz Arena.
Rounding out the top ten is Borussia-Park, home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, with 32,9K Instagram posts. With a seating capacity of 60,2K and 1,1K TikTok as well as a high number of searches for stadium tours and tickets the stadium found its place in the top 10 most Instagrammable German stadiums.
