George Matlou bids emotional farewell to Kaizer Chiefs
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou has officially brought the curtain down on his stay at Naturena. He has postedan emotional farewell message to the club, his teammates and supporters.
The 26-year-old took to Instagram to thank everyone who played a role during his time with Amakhosi, describing his teammates as family and expressing gratitude to the technical team.
“To my teammates that became my brother and my family, muito obrigado,” wrote Matlou.
“Memories that I will cherish forever. Thank you so much to the coach and the rest of the technical team.
“To all the Khosi fans, thank you so so so much for all the love that you have given me.”
Matlou leaves Chiefs after several seasons with the club, although injuries limited his opportunities to establish himself as a regular starter.
His departure comes as Amakhosi continue reshaping their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz. Chiefs have already confirmed several departures and are now expected to announce new players.
The midfielder is now expected to begin a new chapter elsewhere, with supporters waiting to see where he will continue his career after leaving Naturena.
Reports have suggested that he will join Gavin Hunt’s Stellenbosch FC.
