Media Statement TSESENG – The accused, Aron Mothofela Sibaya (36) of Turffontein, Tseseng Village in Qwaqwa, was found guilty and sentenced to 22 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend Nthabiseng Motshau (44) in December 2023 after repeatedly stabbing her with a knife inside their home.
On 17 December 2023 at about 13:30, Tseseng police were summoned to the house of the couple by community to attend to a complaint of gender-based violence where a man locked his girlfriend inside the house and assaulted her. Upon their arrival, they noticed trails of blood leading into the house where a burglar door was locked and the accused was found in possession of a knife in his hand and the body of a woman lying on the floor. They summoned the ambulance, which rushed the woman to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries. The accused was charged with murder and a murder case was under investigation.
The trial was held at Bethlehem by the Free State High Court, and the case was investigated by Tseseng Detective Service.
