South African Police Service GAUTENG – Different units of the police that include Counterfeit Unit, Border Policing, Public Order Policing, together with Gauteng Traffic Wardens and brand protectors raided more shops that are dealing in counterfeit, contraband and illicit goods. The raid was conducted in Johannesburg Central on Tuesday, 11 March 2025. During the raiding, police seized counterfeit goods worth more than R5.9 million, consisting of clothing, shoes, jewellery, illicit cigarettes, and illicit alcohol. These operations will continue throughout Gauteng as long as there are still shops and people dealing in illicit and counterfeit goods. Ends
