The Gauteng Provincial Government has confirmed it is investigating a suspected information breach involving sensitive government data.
Officials say they are treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves and have already kicked off a preliminary investigation to get to the bottom of what happened and how far it may have spread.
At this point, they’re not giving out any specific details, warning that it would be too early to speculate while the probe is still underway. Internal processes have been activated and the right authorities have been brought in to help get to the truth.
The province says it remains fully committed to protecting government information and making sure all its systems and processes follow the law and the strictest security rules.
