GAUTENG – Gauteng’s Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) detectives achieved significant success in combating serious crimes during November 2024. The courts throughout the province, convicted 33 suspects aged between 23 and 62 years, for committing offences against women and children. The convictions are for charges that include; rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, assault with grievous bodily harm, child neglect, possession of child pornography, kidnapping and statutory sexual assault. Eight life sentences were handed down for rape, along with an additional 206 years in prison. As we commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, these convictions serve as a reminder of the importance of combating violence against women and children. The FCS detectives remain committed to working tirelessly to ensure that perpetrators of these heinous crimes are brought to justice, and that victims and their families receive the support and protection they deserve.
