Free State Asbestos Case Delayed Until June 2025 as Court Grants Accused a Break from Attendance

The 255 million rands asbestos roof removal in the Free States main trial has been postponed to the 4th of June 2025

Free State Judge Phillip Loubser says circumstances of this case are extra ordinary and has allowed accused not to attend Moroadi Cholota’s trial within a trial case.

Loubser adds that it is costly for accused not implicated in Cholota’s trial challenging her extradition process from the USA to continue appearing in court.

Judge Loubser indicated that it is unfair to have accused in court as they come from different parts of the country.

Accused and their legal representative have however been given a choice to attend if interested.

Cholota and her lawyer Loyiso Makapela will continue while Laurence Hodes, Senior counsel for Ace Magashule will also be part of the trial within a trial.
