Media Statement FREE STATE – Joint Operation Vala Umgodi role players; South African Police Service and Department of Home Affairs held a roadblock on N1 National Road near Ventersberg. The disruptive action’s objective was to intercept movement of stolen property, illegal firearms, illicit drugs, contraband goods and human trafficking. They pulled over and searched a black Renault Sandero. Dagga, weighing 28.3 kg, was discovered in the car’s trunk. A 36-year-old woman and four male suspects, ages 23, 34, and 35, were arrested for drug trafficking. The estimated street value of the seized dagga is R117 600.00. At the Ventersberg police pation, a case was opened for dealing in and transporting dagga without a permission and violating the Immigration Act. The roadblock resulted in more arrests. Eleven undocumented persons were apprehended. Additionally, 355 people and 173 motor vehicles were searched. The suspects will appear before court soon.
