2023: ‘KINGS OF JOBURG’ SEASON TWO

2023 will see a few of South Africa’s freshest shows from Kings of Joburg, Lenyalo ha se Papadi, Shaka Ilembe, and Gqeberha: The Empire hit the screens.

Kaya 959 reports that the actor Zolisa Xaluva hinted that the much-awaited second season of Kings of Joburg can be coming to our screens on 27 January on Netflix this 12 months.

The first season of the award-winning collection first premiered in 2020 with late actor Shona Ferguson, who performed the main position of Simon “Vader” Masire; Zolisa Xaluva performed Mogomotsi “Mo” Masire, The River actress Tsholofelo Matshaba performed a detective and Imbewu actress Buhle Samuels performed Angela Masire.    

The Netflix collection follows the Masire brothers who rule Johannesburg’s prison underworld however a supernatural household curses them and threatens to destroy them.  

According to an announcement launched by the streaming platform “When the Masire Family returns, they are haunted by a supernatural family curse and find themselves tangled in a web of betrayal that threatens to destroy the family in this riveting new season.”

ZAlebs studies: “The eight-part, action-drama series picks up from a successful first season which saw fragmented family structures, treacherous brotherhoods, and a deal with the devil. The maiden Netflix series from Ferguson Films and Samad Davis Production starred the late filmmaker and actor Shona Ferguson onscreen and behind the camera. Ferguson portrayed the character of Simon “Vader” Masire and was additionally credited as an government producer of the present. The sequel sees government producer & showrunner Samad Davis and government producer Connie Ferguson teaming up once more in what they each described as a tribute to the late nice Shona.”

Tshedza Pictures is bringing Mzansi Magic viewers a brand new telenovela Gqeberha: The Empire this January. The isiXhosa telenovela is changing The Queen which involves an finish after its seven seasons.

Sunday World studies that Gqeberha: The Empire is the primary Mzansi Magic telenovela to be filmed fully in the Eastern Cape.

Actress Nomzamo Mbatha, who produces Shaka Ilembe revealed in an announcement that she was privileged to be a part of the undertaking. “I am honoured to bring the giant that is Queen Nandi to life. History will remember those who informed its people of where we come from, to better understand who we are. I am fortunate to be part of a project that is much bigger than ourselves and to tell this story in our language. Impi iyeza!” 

Although no precise date has been launched, the much-anticipated present is about to premiere on DStv’s (Channel 161) Mzansi Magic in 2023.
