Media Statement LADYBRAND – The Ladybrand detectives had arrested four suspects positively linked to the alleged murder that occurred on 04 April 2025, at the Platberg section of Ladybrand. Among the accused is a foreign Lesotho national following the murder of Ishmael Molahlei, accused of commission of burglaries in the area. The four accused, Lebohang Pepenene (41), Akhosi Mokhethi (55), Mathabo Kutu (41), a Lesotho national, and Malefetsane Ramoholi (25), appeared briefly before the Ladybrand Magistrate Court on 07 April 2025, facing a charge of murder. Their case has been postponed to 14 April 2025 for formal bail application. It’s alleged that the community became outraged against the alleged victim. He was allegedly assaulted and admitted to a local hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. The case of murder was registered and is still under investigation. The other arrests are still imminent. We urge the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Hence, the suspect had a burglary case against him. He was supposed to be arrested by citizens and handed over to local police without any harm or injuries for justice to prevail. Ends
