Media Statement MTHATHA – In endeavours to root out crime in Mthatha streets, the SAPS Tactical team in Mthatha arrested four male suspects aged between 30 and 40 years for robbing a business entity in Mthatha Slovo Park on Wednesday, 22 January 2025 at about 12:00. The Tactical team spotted the getaway car, which was tactically approached on the R61 road next to a non-operating Sasol garage resulting in the arrest of four male suspects found with suspected stolen goods. Amongst the recovered goods were washing powders and different types of cigarettes with an estimated value of R15 000, 00. An unlicensed firearm with an erased serial number was also recovered. The firearm was found in a sling bag, none of the suspects claim ownership thereof. All four male suspects will appear before Mthatha Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 24 January 2025, facing charges of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition. The OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, applauded the Tactical team for their commitment in fighting crime in the district with the highest levels of dedication. Ends
