The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Specialized Services Units Officers, arrested forty-seven undocumented foreign nationals, aged between twenty-four (24) and seventy-two (72), from various African countries across the City of Ekurhuleni.

According to the statement issued by EMPD, the arrests were effected during law enforcement operations conducted at identified hotspot areas, aimed at curbing the growing number of undocumented individuals within the City on Sunday and Monday.

All suspects were unable to produce valid passports or identification documents and were immediately detained.

Immigration services were notified to conduct further verification of their legal status in the country.

All suspects face charges under the Immigration Act and are appeared in their respective Magistrates’ Courts.

Their matters were postponed for further investigations and consultations.
