Former SABC’s Ukhozi FM radio presenter Siya Mhlongo will know his fate on December whether he will enjoy his Christmas day behind bars or not.
The former Metro FM and Gagasi FM was found guilty of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm by the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

The conviction emanates from an incident that took place in 2023 i outside a nightclub in Florida in Durban where Mhlongo attacked Njabulo Duma whom is believed to be his boyfriend after a heated argument.
During Siya” court appearance, evidence which included CCTV footage and medical reports, confirmed the victim’s serious injuries.
The court dismissed Mhlongo’s self-defense claim, ruling his actions were aggressive and intentional.
The former Ubusuku Obuhle presenter has since been without a job after Ukhozi FM failed to renew his contract amid the allegations.
On Thursday during his cpurt appearnce at the Durban Magistrates Court Mhlonipheni Sibiya was supposed to sentence Siya but he postponed the sentencing to December 15.
Sibiya said that he need time to go through the plea deal that was made by Siya’s lawyer Advocate Simphiwe Mlotshwa asked that his client be given a lenient sentence.
Mlotshwa requested that Siya be given voluntary work for his sentencing and mentioned that this the first offence made by client.
Mlotshwa further blamed Siya’s behaviour on the day on alcohol consumption and that there are fewer chances he was going o attack Duma if he was sober minded.
Siya’s lawyer added that after his contract was not renewed with Ukhozi FM, his client went into depression and that in his 20 years in radio he was earning R45 000 month of which R5000 was going straight to his month who is diabetic.
In court, noticeable people that had come to support Siya were former Ukhozi FM Programmes Manager Zandile Tembe, Ukhozi FM Stylist Mthokozisi “Swenka” Chili, Event Organizer Phindile “Pru” Zulu and Clive Gumede.
