FORMER PROSECUTOR AND ACCOMPLICE APPEAR IN COURT FOR CORRUPTION

Former state prosecutor Siphokazi Magangana (53) and an accomplice Mandisa Yolanda Jamjam (45) have appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Friday, 13 June 2025 following their arrest on Thursday, 12 June 2025 for corruption.

 

A complainant from the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) received complaints about a prosecutor based in Westgate Court in Johannesburg who is allegedly scamming victims by promising them employment and charging them an amount of R10 000.

 

Gauteng Hawks Spokesperson Warrant Officer Thathohatsi Mavimbela said a case of corruption was opened and referred to the Johannesburg based Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation.

 

Through investigations it was revealed that the bank account in which the victims were provided with to make the payments belonged to Magangana’s daughter, and that Magangana worked with a friend who is an accomplice Mandisa Jamjam. Jamjam is also alleged to be impersonating as an attorney and has also received money through her bank account from victims. While the matter was still under investigation, Magangana resigned as a prosecutor.

 

On Thursday, 12 June 2025 the pair were arrested at their place of residence in Roodepoort and have made their first appearance before the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Friday, 13 June 2025 where the matter was postponed to Tuesday, 17 June 2025 for a formal bail information.

 

On a separate matter, a suspect, Quinton Seleka (36) employed as a toll operator at the Dalpark Tolplaza tollgate was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime banking crime task team on Thursday, 12 June 2025 after officers were informed about the suspect who was in possession of a hand held skimming device. The suspect, Quinton Seleka made his first appearance before the Brakpan Magistrate Court on Friday, 13 June 2025 where he was granted bail of R1000 and the matter has been postponed to 18 July 2025 for further investigation.
