Former KZN rapper AKALICIOUS accused of robbery and knife threats in Durban cbd
A Durban-based rapper known as Akalicious has been accused of robbing and threatening to stab a individual in the Durban Central Business District (CBD).
A social media user known as Accredited Sam has come forward to accuse the Umlazi-born artist of robbery.
The victim claims they were threatened with a stabbing if they failed to cooperate near the Workshop shopping center on Wednesday afternoon.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Accredited Sam detailed the alleged robbery:
“The person in this photo is the musician known as Akalicious SA, who robbed me today in Durban near the Workshop.Later this afternoon, around 5:00 PM as I was leaving work, I came across this man. He approached me and asked for money.
“When I told him I did not have any, he became furious and accused me of making a fool out of him. As I tried to walk away and cross the street, he followed me, demanding money by force. He then reached into my pockets and took the money I had, which was loose change from my taxi fare.He complained that the amount was too small and ordered me to walk to a bank to withdraw more.”
Accredited Sam claims that Akalicious threatened to stab her if they refused.
“Akalicious said he would stab me and take my phone.I pretended to head toward the bank but noticed a police vehicle across the street. I ran toward the police. He shouted after me, but by the time I reached the officers, he had fled and disappeared from sight. The police then escorted me to my transport as I was extremely shaken.
“What hurts the most is that I grew up listening to his Kasi Rap music, yet today, I was robbed by him.I am thankful that he failed to take my phone and could not access the money on my bank card.”
Local community members have expressed shock over the allegations against the Kasi Rap artist.
Authorities continue to monitor safety in the CBD area following the report.
