Gcina who played the role of Khanyisile Majola-Ndlovu in the now defunct daily telenovela won the first round in her bid to challenge the decision by the bank to auction her house without her knowledge and to challenge the court’s decision to evict her.
During her court appearance today where she filed court papers opposing the two decision at the Booysens Magistrate Court in Johhanesburg, the court ruled in her favour and allowed her matter to heard on 5 February 2026.
” The court ruled that the application for postponement was accepted. This will give me more time to get a law practioner who will be able to assist us on the house matter. It’s a small victory and we cannot be excited about but at least I know that during the holidays me and my kids will not be on the streets. I will be going back to court again on the 5th of Feb ’26. I am not sure I am allowed to get into the details of how the proceedings unfolded but what is important is that we were granted the application to postpone,” she said.
MDN News reported over the weekend that Gcina was on the verge of having a black Christmas after the new owner and businessman Dzivhu Tevin Mashila reportedly bought the house in October 2023 at an auction and the home was registered at the deeds office in January 2024.
It emerged that Mashila succesfully applied for the eviction to order which was granted and now was facing the harsh reality of being homeless with her family.
“I’m prepared to fight for my house with everything that I have. I don’t want to lie to you and say I do have funds to find a legal practioner to help me fight this matter but I believe that God is with me. My ancestors are with me as I’m fighting for the hojse that they gifted me,” she said.
