Media Statement FREE STATE – Lucy Ann Prinsloo (34) appeared before the Welkom Magistrates Court on 22 November 2024 where she was convicted and sentenced for theft. It was reported that Prinsloo, who was an employee of Sentrum Pharmacy in Welkom was involved in fraudulent activities. During the time when she was working at the pharmacy, she processed unauthorised voids on the cash register and acted as if the transactions had been canceled and the clients left the pharmacy without the goods. She then took cash for herself. The incident took place during January 2020 and April 2020. The matter was then reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team in Welkom for further investigation culminating in her conviction. The court sentenced Prinsloo to six years imprisonment or R300 000 fine wholly suspended for five years on condition that she is not convicted of the same offense during the period of suspension.
