Former Botswana president Festus Mogae has died at the age of 86. Mogae, who led the country from 1998 to 2008 as its third head of state, had recently been hospitalised and was reported to have been recovering at home following treatment.
He’s widely respected for steering Botswana through a period of economic growth and strengthening its public health response to HIV/AIDS.
