Ace Ncobo and wife in court over R15.2 million fraud charges
Former football administrator and international referee Andile “Ace” Ncobo and his wife, Salome Twaise Ncobo, are set to appear today in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crimes Court. The couple faces serious charges of fraud and money laundering involving approximately R15.2 million.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Hawks into alleged misappropriation of funds designated for school construction projects in the Eastern Cape.
Authorities allege that the Ncobos orchestrated a scheme to divert these funds into their personal accounts, betraying the trust placed in them to oversee the development of educational infrastructure. The exact mechanism of the alleged scheme remain unclear pending further legal proceedings.
The case has garnered significant public attention due to the substantial amount involved and the prominence of the accused in South African football circles. Prosecutors are expected to detail the charges during today’s proceedings, while the defense has yet to issue a public statement.
The hearing is scheduled for this morning, with both the public and media closely monitoring developments.
