FIVE SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH BOJANALA MURDER CASES

Police in the Bojanala Platinum District have arrested five suspects in connection with separate murder cases reported in Rustenburg and Hebron.

In the first case, Rustenburg police arrested 36-year-old Lesotho national Reitumetse Makakane Nkeche in Reutlwile Metso section, Zinniaville, Rustenburg.

According to police, information about the suspect’s whereabouts was received and operationalised by the Rustenburg Flying Squad, leading to his arrest at the identified premises.

Nkeche has been linked to the murder of 34-year-old Tankie Ephraim Mototi, also known as Mafutha, who was shot and killed in Kroondal near Rustenburg on Friday, 14 November 2025.

He has also been linked to the murder of 28-year-old Lenka Mokoma, who was shot multiple times in Nkaneng informal settlement near Rustenburg on Sunday, 22 February 2026.

Nkeche has been charged with two counts of murder. He appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 18 June 2026, and was remanded in custody until Monday, 13 July 2026.

In a separate incident, members of Brits Crime Intelligence and Hebron Detectives identified suspects linked to three murder cases reported in Hebron between April and May 2026.

Police said the intelligence was operationalised by the Brits Trio Task Team on Friday, 12 June 2026.

Four suspects, Samkeleli Beje, 24, Kabelo Zitha, 27, Bonginkosi Cele, 36, and Lucky Ndou, 47, were traced and arrested in Hebron.

They have been charged in connection with the murder cases.

The four suspects appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 15 June 2026, and were remanded in custody until their next court appearance on Monday, 22 June 2026.

Police said investigations are continuing and the possibility of linking the four suspects to additional cases cannot be ruled out.
