Five accused identified as Bongani Sithole (28), Tsepo Mashego (43), Henry Nkambule (45), Vusi Nkambule (47), and Muzi Mbatha (49), appeared at the Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 29 April 2025, in connection with a tavern shooting incident at Tekwane near Kanyamazane, outside Nelspruit on 24 April 2025.
Their court appearance stems from an incident whereby four victims were shot in a liquor outlet. Thereafter, a case was opened then investigated by the Police and three suspects were initially apprehended on Friday, 25 April 2025. One was cornered at Tekwane whilst the other two were nabbed at Manyeveni near Kabokweni.
In the early hours of Tuesday 29 April 2025, two additional accused were arrested at Manyeveni, bringing the total number of arrested accused to five.
The accused are believed to have been involved in the said shooting incident whereby four victims sustained some gunshot wounds. Subsequent to the incident, Police began their investigation, leading to the initial arrest. The efforts by the dedicated Investigating officers resulted in the arrest of additional two suspects.

At the time of their arrest, two firearms were recovered, though without ammunition.
During their court appearance, the case was postponed to 19 May 2025, for a formal bail application, and the five suspects remained in custody. They are facing charges in relation to a business robbery and attempted murder.
The accused could possibly be charged for Kabokweni case of possession of unlicensed firearms.
