FIVE MARCH N MARCH MEMBERS WOUNDED IN DUNOON PROTEST SHOOTING

Five members of the March n March (MnM) civil society movement were shot and wounded on Saturday after gunmen opened fire during a community demonstration in Dunoon, Milnerton in the Western Cape.

The victims—three women aged 40, 42, and 48, and two men aged 35 and 43—were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment following the midday ambush.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel F.C. Van Wyk, the shooting transpired shortly after 12:15 PM at the intersection of Potsdam Road and The Stables Road.

The victims reported being part of a demonstration when sudden gunfire erupted. Due to the chaos, they could not identify the shooters or determine the exact direction from which the shots were fired.

A local Cape Town leader from the March n March movement stated that their members were out demonstrating in support of an “Imbizo Yamadoda” (Men’s Forum) march.

The leader alleged that suspected extortionists unexpectedly emerged at the scene and opened fire directly into the group.

While the official motive behind the attack remains unconfirmed, Table View police have swiftly registered a case of public violence and five counts of attempted murder.

No arrests have been made, and an active investigation is under way.
