A devastating crash in Limpopo on Saturday morning has left five people dead and another injured. The tragic collision happened near the J.G. Strydom tunnel, just outside The Oaks in the Mopani district.
According to early reports, a light delivery vehicle (LDV), commonly known as a bakkie, collided head-on with a sedan. The impact was so severe that the bakkie overturned. Sadly, the male driver and four female passengers died at the scene. One other person, who survived the crash, was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. However, transport officials have said they are not ruling out the possibility that negligence may have played a role.
The crash has once again highlighted the dangers on South Africa’s roads, particularly along routes in Limpopo that have seen a string of deadly incidents in recent years.
