A devastating multi-vehicle crash on the N4 highway in North West has claimed the lives of five people. The collision occurred between Groot Marico and Swartruggens and involved four vehicles.
Preliminary accounts suggest the accident happened when a delivery vehicle, which was towing another car, attempted to overtake a vehicle and crashed head-on into two approaching vehicles.
Among the victims were four women and one man, all of whom died at the scene due to the severity of their injuries. Four other individuals sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
