POLOKWANE – The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit in Waterberg district is investigating cases of rape that took place in the Naboomspruit and Witpoort policing precincts on Saturday, 13 April 2024. During the incident that took place in Witpoort, police are searching for an unknown suspect who raped a 27-year-old woman during the early hours at Kauletse village in Ga-Seleka. This is after the victim reportedly went to the local tavern to look for her brother, and she was accosted by an unknown man at knife point who dragged her to the local sports ground and raped her. The victim managed to escape and reported the matter to the police. Meanwhile, Modimolle police are hard on the heels of the suspect, who raped a 17-year-old girl after he offered her a lift from the local tavern in Phomolong extension 4 at about 23:00. The suspect, who is known to the victim, reportedly raped her at the local sports ground.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist in tracing the suspects involved in these cases to contact Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the nearest Police Station or use MySAPSApp. The investigating officer in the Witpoort incident is Sergeant Kwena Ramahuta, and he can be contacted on 082 4141995 and Warrant Officer Helray Mmola for the case in Naboomspruit on 072 2411676.
