Sibusiso Zuma received a hero’s welcome in Denmark this weekend after being honoured by F.C. Copenhagen during the club’s final home game of the season.
The Danish giants celebrated their campaign in style with a dominant 5-0 victory over Randers FC at a packed Parken Stadium.
But the day belonged just as much to Zuma, one of South Africa’s most iconic football exports.
More than 20 years after his legendary bicycle kick against rivals Brøndby IF secured the league title in 2001, the former Bafana Bafana star returned to Copenhagen to celebrate a moment that remains deeply etched in the club’s history.
The stunning acrobatic goal has become one of the most famous strikes in Danish football history.
It was voted the Danish Superliga Goal of the Decade in 2009, while FC Copenhagen supporters later crowned it the greatest moment in the club’s history.
The iconic goal is also immortalised with a statue outside Parken Stadium.
The celebrations came shortly after adidas and FC Copenhagen unveiled a special “Zuma 25th Anniversary” lifestyle collection commemorating the historic strike.
The collection includes a tracksuit featuring an illustration of Zuma performing his unforgettable bicycle kick.
Before kick-off, supporters packed the club’s official store for a meet-and-greet and signing session with the former striker.
Inside the stadium, fans unveiled a giant TIFO of Zuma suspended mid-air performing the famous overhead kick — a fitting tribute to a player whose legacy still lives strongly within Copenhagen football culture.
