Media Statement BRANDFORT – A 26-year-old father was sentenced to life for raping his 9-year-old daughter. On 25 May 2023 a 43-year-old grandmother went to Pelonomi Hospital for a medical procudure and the children were left in the care of their father. When she returned home she noticed that her 9-year-old grandchild was walking funny. She questioned the child, and she reported that her father raped her the time she was left in his care. The grandmother reported the matter to the Brandfort police and a case of rape was opened for further investigation. The case was transferred to the Bultfontein Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit and placed under the investigative skills of Constable Vuyisile Salemane. Working together with National Prosecuting Authority Advocate Makokoe, the suspect was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of his daughter in the Brandfort Regional Court.
