Media Statement POLOKWANE – A 33-year-old complainant reported that on 27 March 2025 at about 08:00, he took his 13 cattle out for grazing at Brambos, Ha Ramantsha. During the evening only two cattle came back and 11 did not come back to their kraal. Following a search for his cattle with no success, he was informed that his cattle have been kept at a farm in Makhado along the N1 highway road. It is alleged that the farmer demanded a certain amount of cash for each cattle. Then the complainant informed the Police about the incident. A total of nine cattle valued R149 000 were found at the farm and handed to the lawful owner. A farmer, aged 52 and his employee, aged 27, were arrested for stock theft, possession of suspected stolen livestock and extortion by Makhado Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit. The two suspects will appear on the 14 April 2025 in the local Magistrate’s Court. Ends
