ZWEKITSHA – Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Nomthetheleli Mene has called on the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit to expedite the investigation into the killing of five family members in Tsolo last night, 04 June 2024, and another family member on Monday night, 03 June 2024. It is alleged that on 03 June 2024, a 43-year-old male was shot and killed outside his grandfather’s homestead in Mpoza location. It is also alleged that on 04 June 2024 at about 19:00, neighbours heard gunshots at a rondavel in Mpoza location in Tsolo. On investigating, the bodies of a 73 and 75-year-old males were found with bullet wounds. Also, at the same time, three more people, aged 62-67 years old (male and two females) were shot and killed in a nearby homestead in the same location. It is alleged that they were related to the other three victims. According to police information, two unknown armed males arrived and shot the victims in the head.
The motive for the senseless attacks are under investigation. In total 6 people from the same family were killed.
